The year is already off to a running start. Dodging the severe weather hitting the U.S., the many attendees of the Dallas Safari Club and Safari Club International conventions were determined to help us jump-start the year with their enthusiasm. What better way to begin 2014 than by reuniting with so many of our far-flung friends?!

Keeping our booth filled throughout both shows, the enthusiasm was tangible. Among the many hugs there was the chance to share adventures and reveal my newest works. It is precisely because of these encounters that I am encouraged to push myself with each piece as it unfurls in my mind. From concept to completion, I hope you can see the maturation of my work as I bravely strive to break free from the conventional bonds of my medium of Pen & Ink.

In addition to the two shows, I was asked to speak to the Austin Woods and Waters group about how my life as an Outdoorsman, Wing-shooter, and committed Conservationist are the foundation of my art. It is always stimulating to be able to share this story with others in the hopes of encouraging them to follow their dreams. Featured in the March issue of Safari Club International’s “Safari” magazine (with the cover showcasing my Turkey in “Something To Strut About), more of my story has been revealed.

Just completed is “The Old Gladiator”. Many attendees of the DSC and SCI shows saw me working on this portrait of a battered old Cape Buffalo.
