What’s New March 2002

SHOW ACTIVITY:

February was wonderful! The FLORIDA WILDLIFE EXPO was held in Lakeland, FL, on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd and included 96 of the best wildlife artists in the world. The “Featured Artist” was Simon Combes of South Africa. To be included in a show with the “big boys” for the 2nd year was a treat, and to hold my own among the “best” was gratifying. Patron’s night ($125./ticket) was especially delightful when I found the Expo Organizers had used my sleeping lion (I’m Not a Morning Person) on the Patron’s nametags.

The weekend of Feb. 23-24 found Chuck and me in Kerrville, Texas for the 2nd Annual “Return Showdown” organized by the Texas Wild Bunch Professional Artists. This is a young show with great potential and the residents of the Hill Country gave us a warm welcome. Spiced up with a “Quick Draw” and auction to benefit the Star Ranch Treatment Center for Children, we combined a good time with fine art and good works. My sleeping lion was chosen 1st Runner Up in the People’s Choice Competition.

ART:

My new piece, a Grizzly Bear, is coming along nicely and should be completed for the upcoming Dallas Safari Club Show in March. Watch for the image in April’s “What’s New”. The Wolf original, “Scent of the Hunt” has been sold. The Giclée edition of the wolves will be an edition of 100 priced at $125. with Artist’s Proofs at $ 145. This newest piece can be seen by clicking Artwork.

Both of these March activities are much more than “Art Shows”. If you love wildlife and conservation, you will enjoy these shows.
